As I was heading towards Iriomote Island, my cell phone suddenly started buzzing...

Earthquake in Taiwan 🫨

And there was a tsunami warning.

A 3m tsunami?!

I've heard that even a 50cm tsunami can sweep you off your feet, so if a 3m tsunami were to hit, the damage would be enormous.

I got in touch with a senior colleague who was nearby and we decided to go out to sea and see what was going on...

.

In the event of a tsunami, the impact will be less severe if you go out to sea.

After waiting offshore for about an hour and a half, a tsunami warning was issued, but then the warning was lifted, so we managed to visit three places and come back.

Yesterday I did my 60th birthday dive with a red chanchanko style BCD 🟥

At Nohara Sone, the current was stronger than expected and I ended up doing flutter kick drift diving.
